Music of 2011 Part One

Starting with Pala by Friendly Fires here are more of my favourite Albums of 2011.
Returning to the UK again with The Go! Team's Rolling Blackouts, a combination of old school hip-hop, punk rock and school yard recess rhymes brings this unique act to the forefront of music enthusiasts.

Next is France's electro-pop duo Justice with Audio Video Disco. Separating themselves from the electronic trademark they are know for, Audio Video Disco switches it up with a more contemporary music sound that is lead by traditional non-electronic music instruments only heightened by the power the electronic sound.

White Lies Ritual could be on the list of another London Dance Punk sound but Ritual is more layered has more depth. The Power & The Glory builds to a epic indie sound with a heartbeat that will stay with you until the sound is over.

Beirut is Natalie Portman`s favourite band for a reason, with their 2011 release Rip Tide they don`t set aside for what they are known for: A nostalgic European folk sound. Rip Tide continues this and triumphs.

Jack of all trades producer Danger Mouse teams up with Daniele Luppi to bring together the unheard soundtrack for the TV Show ROME. Collaborating with Jack White and the extremely talented Nora Jones ROME is the sound of old Italian rock `n`roll, Ennio Morricone scores fused with a folksy sounding epic poem.

The small EP and soundtrack to the coming of age comedy Submarine by Alex Turner perfectly flows together with film. A British Bob Dylan for my likeing.

The Tune-Yards W H O K I L L is one of those album who charm you just fall in love with. A unique sound, a unique band, a unique execution. They do not pride themselves about being different they let their sound accomplish that.

Toro Y Moi is a band that loves to set a mood, their hip 70`s funky dance rock Underneath The Pine accomplishes that and then some leaving you to shake your hips and get your groove on.

Neon Indian`s Era Extrana takes a lot their influence from the 80`s synth sound, a really popular formula these days in all genres of music but Neon Indian is only influenced by the sound what they create is entirely their own.
